Kevin McCollum

Kevin McCollum co-founded both The Booking Group and The Producing Office, which produce and distribute musicals and plays throughout the world. McCollum received the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical for In the Heights, the 2004 Best Musical Tony for Avenue Q, and the 1996 Best Musical Tony for Rent, which also won the Pulitzer Prize. He has also produced Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, the 2009 revival of West Side Story, The Drowsy Chaperone in 2006, which won five Tony Awards, Baz Luhrmann's production of Puccini's La Boheme in 2008, the touring and Broadway productions of Irving Berlin's White Christmas, and the off-Broadway hit De La Guarda.

McCollum was trained at University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music and earned his Master's degree in film producing from the Peter Stark Program at the University of Southern California. In 1995, he received the Robert Whitehead Award for Outstanding Commercial Theatre Producing. He received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati, and serves on the Board of Governors of the Broadway League, as well as on the Labor Committee, the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee; assisting in League negotiations with unions and theatre owners.

At the 2012 BSMC, McCollum joins sound designer Nevin Steinberg in his session regarding the collaboration between producer and sound designer, getting the job, maintaining the job, and what's expected from that collaboration.
